Islam, like other Abrahamic faiths, believes in the unity of
God. God is One, He has no partner and there is nothing like
Him. God is Simple, He has no parts or constituents. He is the
Beginning and the End. He is the only Creator and He is the
only true object of worship. The obvious result of this concept
of God is that the universe must be harmonious and consistent.
Indeed, one of the signs of the unity of God is the fact that
there is no separation or gap in any part of the world. The
Qur'an says: "Had there been in them [the heavens and the
earth] gods other than God, they both would have been in
disorder." (21:22)
