- SELF DEVELOPMENT: ESSAYS ON ISLAMIC SPIRITUALITY
SELF DEVELOPMENT: ESSAYS ON ISLAMIC SPIRITUALITY
Human beings differ from animals in many ways. One way is in
their need and search for purpose and meaning in life. Whilst
meeting basic needs can make animals very happy and satisfied,
human beings look for something beyond this. They need
something that can give them a good reason to go beyond daily
routines and to face the constant challenges and struggles of life.
Whilst any kind of war, conflict or confrontation in the world
around us can very much disturb our life, it is only inner peace
and tranquillity which can bring about a deep sense of
contentment. This is why we witness that those who are better
off and enjoy peace and security may have greater understanding
of the need for a meaningful life and more clearly and strongly
express their thirst for spirituality compared to many of those
who experience difficulties in day to day life.
